Positional Statement Series Part 4: Concerning Baptism

I believe Baptism is an integral part of Christian living. However, I do not believe baptism saves a person. I believe it is their faith in Jesus Christ that saves that person. However, Baptism is an act of obedience to God and publicly demonstrates your relationship with Jesus Christ. Baptism also symbolizes the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Baptism also shows that we are baptized in the name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. It shows that our relationship with God is sturdy and cannot be easily broken. Baptism is the next step in your personal walk with God. However, in saying this, I do not discount the people who believe Baptism is essential for salvation. This is just my personal conviction about Baptism. If someone is not baptized and is saved, it is up to God to decide whether that person can enter heaven or not.
